Comments: Original recording was overwhelming. I actually had to lower the levels on this one
so nobody's speakers would blow out! Not much done here other than some of the hiss was
removed without appling Noise Reduction and the show was retracked. D1t07(Looks Like Rain)
Drop out @ :08 both channels removed. Fades between D2 and D3 fixed. D2 and D3 are now
seemless. D3t04 cass flip @ beginning of track removed. Please note 3 cass gens in the
lineage. We can only hope a better copy will surface!

Thanks to Charlie Miller and Torbjorn for the SHN seed!

Enjoy!!

this is a a good listen...some of the same sequences of songs as 2-17-79..jack-a-roe, looks like rain, lazy lightnin-supp to end the set, energy is great. i really try not to compare shows or era's, as for me the grateful dead were and experience. and the shows that i was at have significance beyond all others. the ones i missed that i "should" have been at, like close of winterland, and a few others, i love to listen to as well....

MOSTLY, I am eternally GRATEFUL for being able to listen to any of these shows, and think it's FANTASTIC we can.

as for donna and keiths last show, not true, that would be the benefit in Oakland a month later 2-17-79, which rocks above this for sure, but this is a fine recording for what the recorder had to work with...

Thanks for posting..

This was my second GD show and this is the first time I have heard any recording of it. Hitch-hiked to Utica from the Southern Tier in the middle of Jan. quite an adventure.
Kind of got away from aud tapes but since its a show I attended...gotta have it. If there are any SBD's of this show out there, someone give me a heads up please. I agree that this show is quite listenable. Very nice Lazy Lightning>Supplication

I think the statements about the quality of this recording are a little exaggerated. Sure, it's not among the best aud's out there, esp compared to others from this era, but it's definitely listenable. Seems like the pitch might be just a tad low, though? Hard to tell.

Performancewise, this show seems rather hit or miss. I haven't listened to every note, but otherwise I'd say it's just a little average for the era. I give it a 3.

Please I'm wondering just how may of these critice have acutally seen a show from the 70's please do you guys remember the tapes we used to listen to in the mid to late 70's???
Please I thank my lucky stars every day for the caring soles that took the time and effort to post the shows here for those of us that actually did go to shows like this.
I got on the "BUS" 1977 at Englishtown 18 years later and 300 shows I still say thank you tapers and posters.
Keep up the outstanding work remember this is part of "MY" history and I never took in a "BAD" show or never took a bad picture of my childern.
The Dead the shows the people were MY life for a long time. GO BUY A DICKS IF YOU WANT OUTSTANDING QUALITY. But hey what do I know.
Thanks again guys it the memories I hold dear and you can't put a price on that!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow...even the tape I got a few months after the show is a better recording. A shame that you can't hear what I always felt was one of the best E/E transitions.

What's audibly missing is how Billy synchs along w/ Jerrys notes almost instantly, changes the rhythem, pulls in Weir who lays down some hard chords and sets Jerry up for the jump to Eyes.

Check out how Jerry gets off in Eyes. A ton of notes played here but listen for when he "skims the stone" over the top (7:00 mark). He knows a good thing and does it again.

It's not Englishtown or Iowa State Fairgrounds or whichever is your fave but always thought moments like this were what it was all about.

This was the last show before Donna quit (yeah!). They were mid-way through the first set when Keith woke up from his keyboard and staggered over to where Donna was standing and popped a balloon right behind Donna's head. She turned around and smacked Keith across the face and walked off. It was a terrible show.
